Nothing Is Free...
Here's another chapter in the story of "Nothing is free here". the other day there was a knock on the door. we opened it and were met by the "television and radio police". Fortunately they don't wear uniforms, that would have been frightening. They were there to inspect our house for unregistered televisions and radios. Needless to say, our TV and radios are not registered and we were told there was a 1,500 Euro fine. But they had mercy on us because we were foreigners and gave us a second chance to register. It amazes me that we have been here almost a year and a half and we are still learning new things. I think i may have read somewhere before we moved that they tax tv and radio usage, but it has never been brought up until now. Thank God for His mercy!

Here's something you don't run into in America...
Quick story...I was on my way to a meeting tonight when i got stuck in traffic for 45 minutes. That is pretty much unheard of in Innsbruck. I can drive to Italy in 45 minutes. The worst traffic i have ever been in here might have delayed me 10 minutes. anyway, i find out later that they had rerouted traffice and evacuated some buildings because while digging at a construction site, they found a WWII bomb that had been dropped from an airplane and did not detonate. I'm not kidding! I wonder what that would go for on ebay?
